Minecraft Ragdoll Physics Mods

Pick by loader, not by the phrase ragdoll mod. The four Java projects below were counted on Modrinth on 2 Nov 2026.

Four projects

Physics Mod by Haubna showed 24,977,346 downloads, with Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt builds from 1.16.5 through 1.21 and 26.x snapshots. It ragdolls vanilla mobs, can fracture, and has a blocky ragdoll mode. The free core sits next to a Pro tier. The project updated 28 Oct 2026.

Sable: Ragdolls by Leo-T22 is NeoForge 1.21.1 only, 458,184 downloads, published 2 Jun 2026. H tumbles, Shift gets up. It is a player ragdoll and a dummy, with a public programming interface for addons. It is not a Fabric mod.

Ragdollified showed 66,553 downloads on Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1, 1.21.1, and 26.x, updated 16 Sep 2026. It is marked beta and uses Jolt. Saro's Player Ragdoll showed 65,645 downloads from 1.12.2 through 26.x on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge. From 1.20.1 it embeds Bullet. The 1.12.2 line wants DynamX.

Fresh Animations fights Physics Mod ragdolls unless you add the patch. That patch, 2,761 downloads, supports Physics Mod 3.0.25 on NeoForge 1.21.1 and only the blocky ragdoll. I do not have a published menu path for the mob-ragdoll toggle, so I will not invent the click sequence. These are Java projects; this comparison does not establish a Bedrock or Pocket Edition port.

  1. Physics Mod. Put the jar for your loader in the mods folder. Turn on mob ragdoll in that mod's own config. If you use Fresh Animations, add the 3.0.25 patch and stay on blocky ragdolls.
  2. Sable. NeoForge 1.21.1 only. H tumbles and Shift stands up.
  3. Ragdollified. Match Forge or NeoForge to 1.20.1 or 1.21.1. It is a beta. Back up the world.
  4. Saro's. On 1.20.1 or newer the Bullet library is inside the mod. On 1.12.2 install DynamX too.

Install the file that matches your instance

A loader name alone is insufficient: a 1.21.1 NeoForge file is not a general 1.21 Fabric file. Select the Minecraft version, loader, dependencies and release channel from the project’s Versions tab. Ragdollified is marked beta; isolate it from a long-lived world until you have a rollback copy.

Use the official project download, not a renamed JAR from a video description. A Java JAR is not a Bedrock behavior pack and cannot be installed by changing its extension.

  1. Record the instance. Write down the exact Minecraft version and loader. Close the game and copy the world and configuration folders before changing mods.
  2. Read the version entry. Open the matching release on the project page. Use only the loaders and dependencies named for that release, not an approximate version range.
  3. Keep the experiment isolated. Create a separate loader profile and add the selected JAR to that profile’s mods folder. Start with one ragdoll mod; do not combine four projects to get all their features.
  4. Recover or diagnose. If loading fails, read the earliest missing-dependency or incompatible-version message in latest.log. Remove the added file to restore the prior profile; reinstall the exact matching dependency rather than upgrading the whole pack blindly.

If bodies remain stiff or the game crashes

For Physics Mod with Fresh Animations, the cited compatibility patch specifically targets Physics Mod 3.0.25 on NeoForge 1.21.1 and blocky ragdolls. Do not treat that patch as a guarantee for every later version. Disable the animation replacement in the isolated profile when narrowing the conflict.

Sable’s project describes H to tumble and Shift to recover; check the key-binding screen for conflicts. Saro’s 1.12.2 line names DynamX, whereas newer files bundle Bullet. A server/client mismatch requires reading that exact release’s environment declaration, not assuming every physics effect is server-wide.

Questions people actually ask

Is there a ragdoll mod in Minecraft?

Yes. Four Java mods. Sable is the narrow one: NeoForge 1.21.1 only.

What should I use on 1.21?

Physics Mod, Sable, and Ragdollified all have a 1.21.1 line. Sable does not have Fabric.

Why are mobs still stiff?

Fresh Animations without the patch, the wrong loader, or the mob option still off. I will not guess the menu clicks.
